Frequency and resolution

Frequency and resolution are a big part of our daily life and learning how it was recorded in the past to how we do it today was very interesting. I always knew that there were things we as humans couldn't hear depending on the frequency. For example, something that is so high pitched were not able to might be at a frequency that our pets are able to hear. I also learned how big of a difference resolution makes when looking at an image. I started to pay more attention to this when I would crop or edit my images and how they wouldn't be as clear as the original because it was losing pixels and therefore had less resolution than the original.

  1. Yes, sound and video are big part of daily life indeed!

Glad 1.1.10 Digital Sound & Video Facts helped you learn about how we humans don't hear all range of the sound frequency range and how big of a difference resolution makes when looking at an image :-)

The second part will appear on Bonus Quiz 4 ^_^

  2. I love playing with resolution. More pixels allow you to zoom in on the finer details of an image that you might not necessarily see.

  3. Yes, pixels are no fun. I recently had a work event and our vendor sponsored the "Step and Repeat" for the Red Carpet. At the time of printing, we realized the file wasn't vectorized and when scaled up it looked pixeled. we were able to save it last minute but it was a cold sweat moment for sure.

  4. High resolution is one of the things I look at when looking to buy new technology. Good picture quality for films, videos, and presentation make a computer that much better!

  5. I still couldn't really tell between high resolutions and lower ones unless it's super low and obvious. Crazy how frequency can create so many things in this world!

  6. We as humans are limited when it comes to our thresholds, it is almost scary to think the world is more complex than it already is thought out to be. There are things happening that we may not necessarily hear or see, so it is amazing we have tools today that help us enhance these senses.

  7. It is incredible how clear pictures and video are when using high resolution. I totally understand the part about frequencies. Some pitches we can't hear and others will make you cover your ears depending on how sensitive your hearing is.

  8. I kind of understand what it says but to be complete honest, I'm having hard time reading this smoothly :,)

  9. Photo resolution is a constant struggle for me! Because they come in so many different formats, you never know how much wiggle room you'll have to play with when editing photos. This is primarily the reason I do not enjoy editing photos.

  10. when it comes to frequency's I find it so interesting on how spectrograms work and convert sound into images or even more fascinating they convert images into sound.

  11. Super cool, It is very interesting about frequencies. Just like a dog whistle.

  12. I agree; I think that knowing about frequency and resolution is important since we come across it frequently. Pets are a good example; it happens often with my cat, who gets scared by a noise that is almost imperceptible to me.
