Dance
I've always loved dancing since I was a kid and it is also a big part of my culture. During elementary school I was in a program called Go Move Dance and at the end of the year we would perform in front of friends and family at Las Vegas Academy of Arts Performing Center and get individually evaluated as they awarded a certain amount of scholarships to a dance academy every year. I was lucky enough to be awarded this scholarship and learned many forms of dance at their school. I did that until I got to high school and then decided to stop due to having a lot of things on my plate. I am now looking into making some time to go back to a dance academy and continue to improve my dancing skills. As I mentioned earlier it is also a big part of my culture as I am Mexican and we dance to literally anything. I love to go to Jaripeos and other events where there is a live band playing as Banda is my favorite style to dance to.

I hope you find time to dance again, Nadia :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your love of dancing with the class and the world.
Welcome to IS101-3003, Fall 2023 ^_^
Nadia, I wish I had the coordination and nerve to dance in front of people as you like to do. Thinking about it alone gives me anxiety.
ReplyDeleteI personally think music connects to our inner soul as human beings. Dancing is a way of expressing what you feel inside as you hear the music. Do not give up doing anything you love! Especially when not everyone is made to dance. Do what you do best!
ReplyDeleteI love dancing! I think is in every Cuban's bloodstream but it's so impressive you used to do it in a professional setting. that's super awesome.
ReplyDeleteI also love to dance, but more so in my room! Hahaha. I envy your confidence to dance in front of the crowd.
ReplyDeleteDancing is a great way to express yourself. I see how fluid some people can move and I am in awe at times. I'm not the best dancer but with time, I think... I will probably still be bad. lol
ReplyDeleteAs Ethiopian we love to dance lot . It is in our blood line. But my favorite dance is salsa. Even If I do not understand the single word of Spanish but the music as me moving.
ReplyDeleteDancing is an art form and the backbone to many cultures and is a great way to express your self identity, I hope you start to dancing again!
ReplyDeleteThat's very impressive Nadia, it's not often that people receive scholarships, especially for dance. I can't imagine how much time and effort it takes to learn and perform a routine in front of an audience. I'm excited for you to get back into dance and to find that passion again!
ReplyDeleteWhen I used to live in Mexico on the 7th grade we all had to take dance classes as part of our cultural credits and I took it over history, it was some of the most fun and fond memories I had with my friends when we danced in the town center. I never bult of the confidence to dance on public so I was smiling but cringing very hard, very fun though. I hope you can continue dancing and have fun doing it!
ReplyDeleteI personally love dancing since I was a kid too! I hope you get to start dancing again the way you desire to. Because from someone who has parents that were both dancer I know when you're dancing (or something you are really passionate about) you feel alive the most!! Also looking forward to talk about this in person next class ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice to hear someone talk about how much they love to do something, especially dancing, I am glad to hear that you plan on continuing to do it in the future.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to read about your love for dancing. It is a very good way to express yourself, and it is important for you to continue to do it even when you're very busy. It is important to continue to enjoy yourself.
ReplyDeleteI remember going to street fairs as kid and when the banda or mariachi would start playing every would get up and started dancing or sing along it was such a joy hearing and seeing everyone just celebrating the moment.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool you got a scholarship through what you love! Would love to see you break down and dance maybe one day in class.
ReplyDeleteI am of Mexican descent and can certainly relate to your love and cultural connection to dance. It is great when we can make time for things that we are passionate about, even when they are just for fun and personal well-being. You've inspired me to do the same! I want to get back to doing some of the things I used to love, simply because they brought me happiness.
